The main temple of the Tibetan community in exile, with the Namgyal Monastery, the Tibet Museum and the residence of His Holiness the Dalai Lama.
The Tsuglagkhang Complex is the most important Tibetan Buddhist site in India. It houses the main temple with statues of Shakyamuni Buddha, Avalokiteshvara and Padmasambhava, the Namgyal Monastery — the personal monastery of the Dalai Lama — and the Tibet Museum, which tells the story of Tibet's history and exile.
Visitors can join the kora, a peaceful circumambulation path lined with prayer wheels and prayer flags that loops around the complex through the forest. Early mornings and evenings are the best times to watch monks debating in the courtyard.
Photography is restricted inside the main prayer halls, and modest clothing is appreciated.
