A tranquil institute dedicated to preserving Tibetan art, with Japanese-inspired gardens, artisan workshops and the Seat of Happiness temple.
Norbulingka Institute in Sidhpur was founded to preserve Tibetan culture in its literary and artistic forms. Visitors can watch artisans at work on thangka painting, wood carving, metal statue making and appliqué in the workshops.
The gardens, with streams, bridges and maple trees, are one of the most peaceful places in the Kangra Valley. The Seat of Happiness (Deden Tsuglagkhang) temple houses a large gilded Buddha statue, and there is a small doll museum, café and shop on site.
